Data

Components are used as data sources for portlets. The components must be non-interactive; they cannot include user inputs or any steps that require manual intervention. For instructions on creating and designing a data source, see the sections Create Components and Design.

Data source: Use the drop-down list to select the component to be used as the data source

• Copy Input Definition: This copies all portlet input data from events. It helps determine the correct syntax for the Start Ring Input table, which can be cumbersome to write manually.

Output variable: Select the output (the output options come from the component End step). Click Execute to fetch the data structure. This action will populate the data source columns or other elements, depending on the portlet type, allowing you to continue with the portlet setup.

Update cache: Set it to Daily, Live, or Custom. See Cache for more information on how the portal caches data.
