Exam Response

This application can be used to respond to published exams. Candidates submit answers. The system validates and stores responses in the database for analysis.

Pre-Requisites to Execute Exam Response Application

  • The exam must be in Published state

  • The exam will appear in the inbox only if the exam start date has passed or matches the current date

Detailed User Guide

Step 1: Exam Selection (Inbox)

Candidates begin at the Exam Response Application screen, which displays a list of all published exams assigned to them. Each Exam entry shows:

  • Exam Name

  • Issuer – The person or department who created the exam

  • Status (e.g., Pending)

  • Start Date & End Date

Available Action:

  • Default Selection – Choose an exam to respond to.

Step 2: Exam Question Summary

After selecting an exam, users are taken to the Exam Instruction Summary screen. This screen provides:

  • Exam Name

  • Number of Questions

  • Exam Starting Text (introduction)

  • Estimated exam duration

  • Exam Passing Threshold

  • Instructions

Available Action:

  • Start Exam – Begin answering questions.

Step 3: Start Exam (Loop)

Candidates enter the main exam answering loop. Each question is displayed one at a time with its type clearly indicated. Supported question types include:

  • Yes/No

  • True/False

  • Multiple Choice

  • Single Choice

  • Numerical

Available Actions:

  • Next – Move to the next question.

  • Back – Return to the previous question.

This loop continues until all questions are answered.

Step 4: Exam Answer Summary

Once all questions are completed, candidates are directed to the Exam Answer Summary screen. If they wish to make changes, they can navigate to specific questions through the answered question grid view.

The Exam Answer Summary screen displays:

  • Exam Name

  • Exam Ending Text (closing message)

  • Number of Questions Answered

  • Estimated exam duration

  • Exam Passing Threshold

  • Answered Questions

Available Actions:

  • Confirm Answers – Submit the exam.

  • Edit Answers – Modify answers.

Step 5: End Exam

When candidates click Confirm, the exam is submitted.

The system:

  • Saves all responses

  • Calculate marks and display the score

  • Sends email notifications to managers once all assigned candidates have responded
